Researching trends in the market has been my most recent focus, and I would love to share what I’ve learned with others. In my free time, I like to draw and my favorite sport to play is water polo. I can’t wait to work with my fellow interns through Wealthy Habits to help others get ahead in their financial lives!

Samuel jimenez
University of Chicago
Major: Business Economics
My name is Samuel Jimenez and I am rising second year student-athlete at the University of Chicago studying business economics. I am super excited to combine my passions of finance and giving back this summer.
Financial literacy is a valuable skill to have, especially at a young age, so being able to pass along and teach this valuable information to others means a lot to me. In my free time, I play and watch soccer, watch a lot of movies, and hang out with my friends. I can't wait to create meaningful connections and have a real impact on others this summer.

Matthew Hardy
University College of Dublin
Major: Economics
Having lived in different parts of Atlanta my whole life, I thought I had met a wide variety of people and knew what the world was like. But through studying internationally full-time, I have discovered a different way of life, and grown immeasurably because of it. One key part of moving to another country is finances of course, and despite how prepared I thought I was, actually living the process and learning how to manage everything myself was very eye-opening. I hope sharing my experiences and mistakes with youth can help them avoid some of the same setbacks I lived, and be the most prepared to pursue anything in life they choose!

Gracie Dennis
University of Alabama
Major: Finance with minor in Accounting
As a rising senior at the University of Alabama majoring in Finance with a minor in Accounting, the importance of financial literacy has become extremely apparent through my education. My experience working with students has led me to discover a love for teaching, where I’ve learned that encouraging exploration and creativity while fostering an engaging learning environment where students feel confident can make all the difference. I am passionate about animal related service, as I work closely with the local shelter at my university and am currently fostering two cats! Accessible financial education is also a passion of mine, as I believe the tools and knowledge to make informed financial decisions are essential. I am eager to make a difference in the lives of students who are wanting to feel more prepared for their future!

How We Recruit and Train Our Financial Literacy Instructors
College Interns are recruited over a six-month period. We screen for motivated students that are excited to make a difference in the next generation’s personal finance outlook. College students majoring in a business-related field or a strong interest in personal finance apply for the summer internship beginning in January. Of the 300+ applicants, we select the top students based on their motivation, history of success, GPA (3.2 or higher), communication skills and knowledge of personal finance. This assures we have instructors that are great role-models and enthusiastic mentors for the Wealthy Habits students. Before instructors are put in front of a group of students, they undergo a background check and 35 hours of instructional training by the organization. Still not ready to go solo, the instructors are observed as they co-facilitate their first program. After a debriefing session that involves a great deal of constructive criticism, instructors are ready to instruct without assistance.
