Amelia Green

Cornell University (May 2025)
Major: Hotel Management

I attend Cornell University as a rising sophomore. There, I am majoring in Hotel Administration with the ambition of going into the financial services industry. I am especially interested in working in the sustainable finance space as an investment banker or financial analyst. I have always had a passion for environmental advocacy and aim to combine that with my budding interest in finance. I also have previous experience teaching children in the culinary space. There, I learned that teaching is not only a way to develop your understanding of a concept. Teaching also forces the teacher to examine the many ways students learn. I want to use the diverse perspectives of my students to amplify my understanding of finance. Ultimately, I am excited about the opportunity to work with Wealthy Habits, and completely realize the many ways finance can be a tool for positive impact.

During high school, I valued my various opportunities to mentor youth, including my time spent volunteering at DeKalb County Teen Court and Interfaith Outreach Home. I have a passion for helping others make better decisions, and I look forward to working with the Wealthy Habit students to develop skills and gain personal finance knowledge.

Kira Wiklund

University of Rochester (May 2023)
Major: Business Finance

I am a rising senior at the University of Rochester pursuing a degree in Business Finance, and I am so excited to be joining the Wealthy Habits team! My parents have taught me financial skills from a young age, and it has shaped the way that I approach and handle financial situations today. Going to college, I realized that a lot of people did not have that same financial awareness, and were lost when making financial decisions. Having kids learn these skills at such a young age shapes the way that they see personal finance for the rest of their lives. At the University of Rochester, I had the opportunity to be a Teaching Assistant for different business courses, and I loved being able to help others succeed. I’m looking forward to having that same impact on the students at Wealthy Habits and improving the financial literacy of future generations!

Madeline Benson

University of Georgia (May 2025)
Major: BA in Finance & Pre-Law

I am currently a rising sophomore at the University of Georgia as a Finance, Pre-Law major (May 2025). I grew up watching Shark Tank and it immediately caught my interest and since then I have realized the importance of personal finance. I started my own business selling tumblrs locally and it taught me how important being organized and knowledgeable with your money is in order to keep a business up and running. Personal finance is a topic that everyone should become well-rounded on in order to be able to pursue your goals of travel and future entrepreneurship endeavors. I worked with kids last summer and I loved seeing them become comfortable and expressing their personalities and I can’t wait to help give them information that will help shape their future. I’m excited to work for Wealthy Habits in order to share my knowledge and teach kids early on skills that will help them be stable and grow as an adult.

Harley Ryan

University of Virginia (May 2025)
Double Major: Classics & Economics & Minor: Data Science

I am a rising Sophomore at the University of Virginia where I am double majoring in Classics and Economics with a minor in Data Science. I am so excited to get the opportunity to combine my love for economics with my love for teaching others over the summer, and I am super excited to teach kids about personal finance. Smart financial habits are some of the most important skills to learn, and after learning them myself at a young age I feel a responsibility to help teach the next generation about how to best handle their money and make smart financial decisions. The things I have learned about personal finance have not only helped me on a personal level, but also in other organizations and extracurricular activities that I am involved in. I hope that the children get as much out of their personal finance knowledge as I have and that they are able to use the skills they learn in this course for the rest of their lives!

Jo Suddreth

Georgia State University (May 2024)
Major: Finance

I am a third-year Finance major at Georgia State University. I grew up without a figure in my life who was able to teach me the foundation of financial skills. Over time, I learned how to save and invest my money wisely from my firsthand experiences. How We Recruit and Train Our Financial Literacy Instructors

College Interns are recruited over a six-month period. We screen for motivated students that are excited to make a difference in the next generation’s personal finance outlook. College students majoring in a business-related field or a strong interest in personal finance apply for the summer internship beginning in January. Of the 300+ applicants, we select the top students based on their motivation, history of success, GPA (3.2 or higher), communication skills and knowledge of personal finance. This assures we have instructors that are great role-models and enthusiastic mentors for the Wealthy Habits students.

Before instructors are put in front of a group of students, they undergo a background check and 35 hours of instructional training by the organization. Still not ready to go solo, the instructors are observed as they co-facilitate their first program. After a debriefing session that involves a great deal of constructive criticism, instructors are ready to instruct without assistance.
