As a rising sophomore business student at the University of Southern California, I’m excited to apply what I have learned in the classroom to help students improve their personal finance literacy. I have been interested in finance since I was young, and it has grown into something I’m passionate about. I love to learn new information about stocks and investing and hope to use this in my future career. I can’t wait to fuse my passions in personal finance and service to help others get a head start on financial freedom this summer!

Mason Wang

Emory University (May 2025)
Major: Applied Mathematics, Economics & Computer Science

I am a rising senior at Emory University, majoring in applied mathematics, economics and computer science. I developed a lot of interest in economics and finance since I was in primary school, when my father who works as a banker introduced me to various market structures and investing techniques. I hope I can help more people to become interested in economics and finance at Wealthy Habits and share the joy of learning.

Maya Rajesh

University of Chicago (June 2027)
Major: Computer Science and Business Economics

I am a rising sophomore at the University of Chicago majoring in Computer Science and Business Economics. I’ve always had a passion for learning how financial markets operate and what role an individual plays in the economy. I value the importance of learning financial literacy at a young age especially because I think being exposed to these skills early on creates awareness for the real world, which makes individuals feel confident and prepared for their future. At Wealthy Habits, I am excited to further my passion for economics and not only help students grow their financial literacy knowledge, but grow my own financial awareness as well. I can’t wait to collaborate with others to create a fun learning experience for students that prepares them for financial success.

Carson Dubay

University of Notre Dame (May 2027)
Major: Finance and Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics

I am a rising sophomore at the University of Notre Dame double majoring in Finance and Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics (ACMS). My parents are both accountants, so they have always taught me basic financial literacy. I tutored math and biology in high school, and am currently a tutor for DePaul Academy, a school in South Bend, Indiana, for students with a history of juvenile delinquency. I believe that teaching younger generations about financial literacy is exceedingly important, so I am very excited to teach financial literacy at Wealthy Habits. When I am not in school or working, I love to play sports, work out, and hang out with friends. I hope to make meaningful connections this summer with my fellow instructors and students at Wealthy Habits.

Thomas Joyce

Emory University (May 2024)
Major: Economics and Political Science

I’m a rising graduate student at Emory University majoring in Political Science and Economics with a minor in Computer Science. Since I was young, I’ve always had a great passion for teaching and loved seeing people learn new things, whether it was helping students in other classes through my high schools’ honor society or preparing members of my community for the GED. I’ve also found a great joy in creating new things like writing stories, coding programs, and making music. This summer, I’m excited to combine these passions to provide the knowledge of a 4-year college education in the field of economics to a younger generation in fun and interactive ways. As someone who was unable to learn about financial literacy until my college years, I truly believe in the power of learning those skills early and the great things they can do for your life, so I’m looking forward to joining a dedicated team to provide that power to a younger generation. I can’t wait to work with my fellow interns to truly make this summer one of great memories and financial empowerment!

Anshu Nagabhairava

Georgia Institute of Technology (May 2027)
Major: Business Administration

I’m a rising sophomore at the Georgia Institute of Technology, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. My fascination with technology ignited at a young age, leading me to launch a drone startup in high school, where I experienced the fusion of technology, community engagement, and entrepreneurship firsthand. Alongside my entrepreneurial pursuits, I dedicated myself to serving my community by teaching various mathematics subjects to underserved students, employing personalized resources to cater to their individual learning needs. This experience instilled in me a deep sense of fulfillment and a passion for education and community impact. Now, as I intern at Wealthy Habits, I’m thrilled to continue this journey! As a finance tutor, I aim to extend financial education beyond campus and make it accessible to all who seek it.

Kira Luckmann

University of Georgia (May 2026)
Major: Finance and Real Estate

As a rising junior at the University of Georgia majoring in Finance and Real Estate, my academic journey initially began with engineering before I found my passion for math and redirected my focus toward finance. While my coursework primarily revolves around corporate finance, I’ve recently explored personal finance to better manage my own finances. I thought to myself how can I help larger corporations deal with money, when I–myself–need to do the same. My goal is for the students to apply the valuable skills they acquire at Wealthy Habits for the rest of their lives. I’m very passionate and serious with what I chose to do in my life, so I am excited to collaborate with my fellow interns and students to learn and grow together.

I am enthusiastic about using my knowledge in economics to help others navigate financial decisions, aiming to make a meaningful impact this summer.

How We Recruit and Train Our Financial Literacy Instructors

College Interns are recruited over a six-month period. We screen for motivated students that are excited to make a difference in the next generation’s personal finance outlook. College students majoring in a business-related field or a strong interest in personal finance apply for the summer internship beginning in January. Of the 300+ applicants, we select the top students based on their motivation, history of success, GPA (3.2 or higher), communication skills and knowledge of personal finance. This assures we have instructors that are great role-models and enthusiastic mentors for the Wealthy Habits students. Before instructors are put in front of a group of students, they undergo a background check and 35 hours of instructional training by the organization. Still not ready to go solo, the instructors are observed as they co-facilitate their first program. After a debriefing session that involves a great deal of constructive criticism, instructors are ready to instruct without assistance.
